This plant originates from Thailand where it was dubbed “Dao Noi”  or “Little star” in english. Pogostermon helferi is a stem plant with closely developing internodes that form a compact bush. Under high light in nutrient rich substrate, this plant may reach 2″ but will easily extend to 5″ in medium light. Though not necessary for keeping, CO2 injection does help this plant to reach its prime.

Yellowing, pale green or dropping leaves are direct signs of iron deficiency or insufficient lighting. Typical of most Pogostemon, the stems are firm and brittle so use care when handling.

Low light growth:

Crowding is a common problem so plant with ample spacing and trim accordingly
